At Dr Finbar's Skin Clinic, we are committed to the earliest possible detection of skin cancer, and that’s why we now offer Total Body Photography (TBP)—a state-of-the-art tool that allows us to precisely monitor your skin for changes.

Why is TBP Important?

What is Total Body Photography?

TBP is a specialised imaging service that captures high-resolution photographs of your entire skin surface. This creates a detailed baseline of your moles, freckles, and other skin markings.

At follow-up appointments, we compare new images with your baseline, allowing us to quickly spot any new, growing, or changing lesions—which could be early warning signs of skin cancer.

Who Should Consider TBP?

How TBP Works

1️⃣ Your Full-Body Skin Check

• This is the first step. The doctor may have already done your skin check recently and suggested TBP.  If you haven't had a recent skin check with the doctor you need to book one first. Cost £160. Total cost TBP & Skin check is £260.

2️⃣  Your First TBP Session

• A trained nurse will take high-quality images of your entire body using our advanced photography system.
• These images are securely stored and serve as your personal skin health record.

3️⃣ Future Skin Checks

• Before your next skin check (duration advised by the doctor- depends on your circumstances 6-24months) , we’ll take follow-up TBP images.
• We’ll compare these with your previous images to identify any changes prior to your skin check with the doctor.

What to expect:

·      A nurse will give you a brief overview of the process.

·      You will be required to undress down to your underwear.

·      You will be standing against a blank blue wall, where the nurse will take photographs of the whole-body surface. (34 photographs in total)

·      The photographs will be securely stored in our system and review by our doctors and nurses only.

How to Prepare:

·      Remove any jewellery, makeup and fake tan.

·      Tie up long hair.

·      Try to moisturise your skin the morning of your appointment.  Dry skin can impair the detail in the photographs.

·      Please notify the nurse if you have any moles or areas of concern underneath your underwear or through the scalp.

*Full body skin check with the doctor is also required (unless done within past 6 months)

(Photographs are taken with your permission and stored securely in our medical recording software).
