Every practitioner knows the feeling... A patient points to a mole, or you notice something during a consultation about something else entirely, and a quiet voice asks: is this fine, or is this the one I shouldn't miss.
Most of the time it is nothing. But "most of the time" is not a system, and uncertainty has a cost — over-referral that clogs already-stretched clinics at one end, false reassurance that sends someone home with the wrong answer at the other.
Confidence here is not a personality trait you are either born with or not. It is the product of a clear method, a little structured practice, and knowing where the lines are. That is what this day gives you: a simple, repeatable way to look at a lesion and respond, rather than react.

I'm Dr Finbar McGrady — a GP with a special interest in dermatology, and the founder of Dr Finbar's Skin Clinic.
My own dermatology story started with a sabbatical to Brisbane in 2012, where I was lucky enough to be taught by Professor Cliff Rosendahl, co-author of the Chaos & Clues and Prediction Without Pigment algorithms — and the headline speaker at the October Masterclass. What I learned there changed how I practice.
I won best Poster for my teaching of GPs in Dermoscopy at the World Congress of Dermoscopy in Greece in 2018.
Since 2015 I've worked as a GP with a special interest in dermatology in my local hospital, and in 2019 I opened my own clinic, which in 2025 was named Best Dermatology Practice at the All-Ireland Private Healthcare Awards.
I teach GPs and other health professionals regularly, and I share patient-friendly skin education with a wider audience on YouTube.
I also wrote a book, Accidental Ironman, about burnout and finding the way back — which, as it happens, began with a melanoma. I might tell you that story on the day.
I love teaching this material because I remember not knowing it. My aim is simple: that you leave able to do something you could not do that morning.

This is an introduction, built for anyone who examines skin and wants more confidence doing it. You do not need any prior dermoscopy experience — we start at the beginning.

A note for aesthetic and skin practitioners:

Common questions
Do I need any dermoscopy experience?
None at all. This is an introduction and we start at the beginning. If you are already confident with the algorithms, the October Masterclass will suit you better.
Is this suitable for aesthetic and skin practitioners?
Yes — it is built with you in mind. If you work with skin, recognising the lesions that matter is part of keeping your patients, and your practice, safe.
Do I need to bring my own dermatoscope?
No. You don't even need to have one. The main part of the day will not use a dermatoscope. The final talk will include an introduction to dermoscopy.
Will I get a CPD certificate?
Yes. You will receive a certificate of attendance for your CPD and appraisal, covering 4 hours.
How is this different from the October Masterclass?
September is the foundation — an introduction to recognising lesions and using a dermatoscope. October goes deeper, with an international speaker (Prof Cliff Rosendahl) and more advanced cases. Many people will do both days.
What is your refund or transfer policy?
